Juice FAIL

Posted: June 4, 2012 in Food

Around noon today, I created a monster out of the following: carrots, strawberries, apples, celery, and lemon.  Can’t go wrong with a combination like that… except you can.  It was not delicious.  Everything fought each other for primary taste position.  It was not good.  And when I burped, it had the faintest hint of bile.  Not recommended, regardless of how the picture looks.

Please, hook me up with some delicious juice recipes, besides Mean Green, which is delicious, and just carrots.  Because left to my own devices, I would default to that.  Here’s that juice this morning.

Not Failure…

Posted: April 17, 2012 in Food

Now I’m not saying I’ve failed… I just ate out. Let me explain… I’m on this juice. Whatever juice. Carrots, apples, grapes, watermelon, kale, celery, pineapple… You name it, I’ll drink it. But I’m out of town today and tomorrow and I forgot to juice up enough to take. So I had Del Taco. Don’t give up on me just yet. I’m still in it. Just a brief setback. When I get home, I’m back on. Just thought you should know.

Oh, also, in regards to my bad mood yesterday, it got better when I was talking to my new friend Greg about my money habits/potential. What a knack for teaching he has. So I feel better today. Don’t know if food is related or not.

Fridge Explosion

Posted: April 16, 2012 in Food

Well, instead of mean green juice this morning, or some other fruity mix, I woke up to a refrigerator covered in sparkling cider. My friend from Disneyland, Kristen, told me that her husband, Shaun, found it easier to give up soda if he had some carbonation in his day. So they bought little Martinelli’s bottles of natural cider. So I bought some too, but it looks like after the 3oz I drank last night, the cap busted off in the night and here we are. So it looks like mean green for lunch… Late lunch.

Gotta say, there is a lot of appealing (but processed) food at Mom’s house. But I’m staying strong and leaving it alone. I don’t know why I’m in a bad mood today, but I’m hoping whatever it is will go away soon. I’m not craving food so I don’t think it is the diet, but the Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead Joe felt yucky the first couple days on his juice fast. Who knows… I’ll keep you updated.

Sunday #1

Posted: April 15, 2012 in Food

I hadn’t thought through what the weekend diet would consist of, past bring a couple of juices to “the little house.” After church, we decided we needed some quality time with our good friends, the Bockhahns at the Pizza Factory. So we went there, got the buffet and ate a bunch. Well, I ate a bunch. Jen got a salad and said the cucumbers made her a little uncomfortable, because of the mean green juice she choked down this morning. Anyway, I think the remaining Sundays up there will be eating out with friends, stocking up on every minute we can with them. For me, the rest of the time… Juice.

Yep, I’m Fatter Than I Wanna Be

Why am I hearing Weird Al Yankovic and Michael Jackson in my head right now?  Anyway, I’ve been weighing in at 222 for many months, now.  Seriously, 222 lbs.  Not that I think there is much wrong with that weight… and it’s easy to remember.  But, my problem is – all the extra resides in my gut!  The dietician we saw for our scrawny son said I should be around 180, but that if I wanted to carry a little more bulk (preferably in muscle), 200 wouldn’t be the end of the world.  So that’s kind of what I’m shooting for… and muscles.  I think I can shed the pounds… not so confident about the muscles part.  I’m told that requires exercise.  Sounds like a stalemate waiting to happen.  If any ground is gained, I’ll consider posting before and after pictures.  But not unless there is a marked improvement and I begin looking like Jason Statham.  (Why him?  His hairline and awesomeness, obviously.)
